All true practice has but one of two goals, which are often the same thing:  achieving Enlightenment, or benefiting others.  Any meditative or magickal practice which does not have one of these two things as its goal is not true practice, but rather just an attempt to exploit the universe for selfish gain. 

All Practice must be based in an understanding of the structure and functioning of the Universe--a “theory” if you will of how things work.  All magickal practice has such a “theory” of how things work-- and the more accurate your theory is, the more effective your practice (and your magick!) will be.  This is called the “Ground” of tantra-- the basis on which a particular “Path” or method of practice will work, thus producing the “Fruit.”  These three things, Ground, Path, and Fruit, are the essential aspects of any magickal or meditative practice (tantra). 

The pages in this section of Zagreus.com are meant to help explain the theories of the Universe which have presented themselves to me, sometimes as a composite of things I learned from books and my academic training, and sometimes as a result of meditative experiences or visions.  They will explain key concepts in Buddhism, as well as theories of magick and energy which have been central to my Buddhist and my Pagan practice.
